Local strawberries are one of the best parts of spring! To celebrate them I have put together a roundup of six of my favorite fresh strawberry desserts. I have simple and complicated and elegant and rustic desserts, all of them delicious.

Fresh Strawberry Desserts for Spring title card

Spring is here and strawberries are coming soon to my local markets! This has me thinking about what new strawberry desserts to develop and also has me looking through my strawberry tag to pull out old favorites to make again. Though I love cooking with strawberries and have made so many great recipes, I decided I would only chose six strawberry desserts for this post. It was tough, but I managed!

Fresh strawberry desserts

In my six posts I have a skillet cake which is perfect for a weekend breakfast, a rustic Italian tart, a very berrylicious pie full of All the Berries, an elegant strawberry mascarpone mousse, an easy kid-pleasing strawberry shortcake dip, and an adult-pleasing roasted berry shortcake (with bourbon whipped cream!) which I think covers a lot of strawberry bases.

So now when you come home from the ‘pick your own strawberry fields’ or take it easy and stop by the farm stand, you’ll have all sorts of great desserts to try and to share with those you love.

Strawberry Yogurt Skillet Cake

This skillet cake is rustic, packed with strawberries, and with a tender crumb from the yogurt in the batter. No yogurt on hand? Buttermilk is a great substitute!

Roasted Berry Shortcake with Bourbon Whipped Cream

Roasting the berries is an extra step, but one which is completely worth it! I liked this dessert before I thought about roasted berries but was amazed at the flavor once I did. Also, bourbon whipped cream. Need I say more? 🙂

Balsamic Strawberry Mascarpone Mousse

Mascarpone mousse is creamy and light tasting and lemony. A perfect foil for the strawberry sauce and the complex flavors of the balsamic.

Strawberry Shortcake Dip

Looking for an easy, kid-friendly strawberry dessert which is great for a party? Look no further than this simple strawberry shortcake dip!

Strawberry Ricotta Crostata

I love making rustic, freeform tarts like this strawberry crostata! Flaky golden brown crust layered with ricotta cheese and then topped with sliced strawberries all lightly sweetened with a touch of honey. Yum!

Midsummer Mixed Berry Pie with Crumb Topping

For a more traditional pie, I end this post with my mixed berry pie. It’s the ultimate summer pie with every berry you could want packed into the sweet filling!
